Field Minis - April 13th, 2025
I’ll be honest — when I first saw the weather forecast for April 13th, I was bracing for cold, rain, and clouds. I had layered outfits in my car and was ready to dance with the storm if it came. But Pittsburgh had other plans. Instead, we got a full day of sun — bright, warm, not a cloud in sight. Not exactly my dream lighting (give me golden hour or give me overcast!), but somehow… it all worked out.
I hosted six mini sessions that day at Harrison Hills for my first ever “Field Minis.” Back-to-back, from 1 to 7pm. I was nervous going into it — planning minis for the first time, making sure everything flowed smoothly, hoping each session felt like its own little story. But as the day unfolded, all that nervous energy melted into something softer.
Each session felt calm. Full of love. Full of laughs. People showed up ready to connect — to be present, to be playful, to let their love show. And honestly? That kind of energy makes the light almost irrelevant. Even in that bold, high sun, the moments we captured are beautiful. Real. Heartfelt.
I turned around every gallery within a week — partly because I was so excited to share them, and partly because these mini sessions reminded me that there’s nothing mini about the meaning we can find in a short window of time.
These sessions may be quicker than a full one, but they’re no less valuable. I don’t treat them like less — I never will. Whether it’s twenty minutes or an hour, you’re getting me. My eyes. My heart. My favorite way to tell a story.
That said… all future minis? Sunset only. Lesson learned. :)
