Outfit Guide for Your Session
Picking outfits for your session can feel overwhelming—
I get it! But don’t stress. Keep it simple, have fun, and most importantly, be yourself. No matter what you wear, the photos will reflect who you are as a couple, family, or individual.
Tip #1: Dress for Comfort & Location
- Choose outfits that fit the location and weather. If we’re hiking, bring extra shoes—you don’t want to rely solely on heels!
- Many of my locations require a bit of walking, but trust me, the best spots are worth it.
Tip #2: What to Avoid
Some clothing choices just don’t photograph well. Here’s what to skip:
❌ Neon or fluorescent colors (especially lime green, salmon, or neon orange)—they can cast unflattering tones on your skin.
❌ Colors that match the scenery. If we’re in a field of tall green grass, avoid wearing green.
❌ Chunky bracelets, large watches, or distracting wrist accessories—they take focus away from natural moments.
❌ Bold stripes or heavy patterns. Subtle plaid can work, but keep it minimal.
❌ Spray tans. If necessary, go for an olive tone at least a week in advance so it has time to settle.
❌ Too many outfit changes. Bring 3-5 options max for variety without overcomplicating the session.
❌ Overly matchy outfits for families or couples. Instead of identical looks, coordinate with complementary tones. (That said, if you love matching, reach out—I’ll help guide you!)
Tip #3: What to Wear
✅ Neutrals always win. Think whites, creams, tans, blacks, blues, and caramels.
✅ Muted tones of your favorite colors. Love a bold shade? Find a softer, neutral-hued version of it.
✅ Layers & textures. Sweaters, flowy dresses, and linen add depth and movement.
✅ Outfits that feel like you. If you’re unsure about a choice, send me a pic—I’m happy to help!
At the end of the day, your session is about capturing you—so wear what makes you feel amazing.
Not a professional stylist, but Pinterest and I will help you
Tip #4: Textures & Layers Matter
✅ Mix different textures. Combining fabrics like denim, linen, knit, or lace adds depth and dimension to your photos.
✅ Coordinate, don’t match. Choose outfits that complement each other and the location rather than identical looks. If you’re unsure, send me a pic—I’m happy to help!
✅ Layer up. Layers add variety and help with unpredictable weather. If your dress is loose and flowy, bring a belt! A little structure can make all the difference.
✅ Embrace movement. Flowy dresses and skirts photograph beautifully, creating dreamy, dynamic shots—perfect for twirling, tossing, and spinning!
Tip #5: Where to Shop
Finding the perfect outfit can be tough, so here are some of my favorite stores and boutiques with high-quality, photo-friendly pieces:

Other Helpful Tips
⏳ Be on time. Rushing can stress you out before the session even begins. Arriving early lets you relax, fix your hair/makeup, and settle in.
🧣 Bring a cozy layer (if needed). If it’s chilly, a stylish blanket or coat that photographs well can be both practical and beautiful.
💃 Confidence is key! The best photos come from real, natural moments. Relax, have fun, and trust that I’ll guide you every step of the way.
